According to a Red Cross report, a school in northern Haiti collapsed on Monday. Three children were in the school when a wall collapsed after heavy rains and a small earthquake hit Cap-Haitien, approximately 80 miles north of earthquake devastated Port-au-Prince.
The earthquake in Cap-Haitien on Monday was not recorded by the USGS but a tremor was felt in the area. There is no reported cause for the collapse, but it occurred after a late-night tremor and heavy rains.
At least 54 aftershocks have happened in Port-au-Prince, Haiti's capital, since the January 12 quake killed more than 200,000 people. They are causing buildings to topple before crews can demolish them. People are afraid to sleep in their homes because of the tremors.
It is likely that more tremors and possibly another damaging earthquake could be in the future for the people of Haiti.
Fundraising continues across the United States to help the people who are still suffering in Haiti.
Target stores across the United States will be selling CD and DVD  copies of the "We Are the World 25 for Haiti" performance to raise money for earthquake victims. See a list of stores in Rhode Island here.
Haiti Relief Organizations have been formed in Rhode Island as well as many other Haiti fundraising efforts -- including The Washington Trust Bank's special account set up with the American Red Cross.
